Payvand.com was established in San Francisco Bay Area in late 1995 and is dedicated to Iranian-American issues. Payvand in Persian means joining together, and has recently been used to mean “web link” * as well. Our mission is to create a site that brings Iranians around the globe and those interested in Iran together around related issues. We hope we open a window into Iran through which we can promote understanding, dialogue and peace. While the mainstream media has been portraying a stereotype perspective of Iran over the last few decades, the internet has fortunately changed this media role; Payvand.com readers enjoy viewing issues from many perspectives. As an Iranian-American web site, we are especially focused on issues of importance to the Iranian communities abroad, and believe Iranian-Americans should play a bigger role in the social and political arena. We hope that our active coverage of the community’s achievements will strengthen us as a group and encourage activism. Payvand.com is an independent entity. We publish from many diverse sources around the world, and are thankful to our contributors for enriching our site with their stories, analysis, videos and photos. Your support and encouragement is always welcome. payvand.com PO Box 391403 Mountain View, California 94039-1403 * Tar-nama meaning “web site” was invented and first used by Payvand.com in 1996 |
