Tehran, May 31, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 3.3 degrees on the
Richter scale hit the city of Masjed Soleyman in the southwestern
oil-rich province of Khuzestan for the second time on Monday.
The seismological base of Geophysics Institute of Tehran
University registered the quake at 15:07 hours local time (10:37 GMT).
There were no immediate reports of any casualties or
damage caused by the quake.
A powerful earthquake, measuring 5.5 degrees on the Richter
scale struck almost half of Iran on Friday. At least 22 people were
killed and 200 others injured.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic
fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
